Changing the MADSolutions Attachment Executive Server Side (AESS) main service account or the real time service account causes AESS to function abnormally.

AESS 5.0 for Exchange 2000 only

Conditions / Symptoms

When the MADSAESS Service or MADSAESSRT Service is changed unpredictable results occur such as: service fails to start; service terminates unexpectedly; errors processing configurations occur.  (Note: Other unknown problems may also arise.)

Issue / Cause

The MADSAESS Service processes configuration on a set schedule.  When AESS Main Service is first installed, an Active Directory account is created and this account is used in a number of different situations.  When the account is changed, even if the account has more permission, the service may fail to function normally.

The MADSAESSRT Service processes configurations in real time.  When the AESS Real Time Service is first installed, an Active Directory account is created and this account is used in a number of different situations.  When the account is changed, even if the account has more permission, the service may fail to function normally.

Work Around / Fix

To correct this problem, do the following:

-        Find the MADSAESS account in the Active Directory and use this account for the main service to run under

-        Find the MADSAESSRT account in the Active Directory and use this account for the Real Time Service to run under
