The “keep paperclip icon” feature would not function with invalid named attachments.

AESS 5.0 Build 1002.419 or earlier.

Conditions / Symptoms

If the “keep paperclip icon” feature was turned on, messages that contained attachments that had invalid filename characters would not retain a paperclip icon.

Issue / Cause

The MADSAESS Service could not place a small shortcut file in the message if the file contained invalid characters.  This would cause the paperclip icon to not appear.

Work Around / Fix

To correct this, download and install the latest version of Attachment Executive Server Side 5.0.  The latest version ensures that invalid filename characters are removed from attachments before the paperclip icon feature is processed.
