Checking if an update to the software is available
First you
will need to check if you already have the latest version/build
of the software and if a newer version is available.
To do
this, follow these steps:
- Open
the administrative console for the software. Select one of
the installed service objects. This can be either an "AESS
Main Service" or "AESS RealTime Service" object.
- Write down the version number that appears for the service in
the right-hand side of the window. Example:
"5.0.2003.1128".
- Go to the MADSolutions Product Updates Page at the following
location:
http://www.MADSolutions.com/Updates.htm
- Locate the entry that corresponds to Attachment Executive
Server Side and the version of Microsoft Exchange you are
currently using.
- Check the version number reported beside the entry to see if
it is a higher version number. Example: "5.0.2003.1203".
- If the version number is not higher, then you have the latest
version of the software installed.
- If the version is higher, click on the version number to
download the latest version of the software and save it to your
desktop.
Installing the latest version of the software
To update
your software, follow these steps.
IMPORTANT: Do not uninstall the software.

Open the administrative console for the software. Select
each one of the installed service objects and select the menu
item "Stop Service" for each one. This includes both the "AESS
Main Service" and "AESS RealTime Service" if they are installed.
- Close the administrative console application.
- Run the new installation that you downloaded. Do not
uninstall the software before running the installation.
- After the administrative console opens again, select each
service object that you stopped in the previous step. You
will be prompted that the service is out of date and asked if
you want to update it. Select YES.
- After you update a service, it should be automatically
restarted and the version number reported should change.
Check the new version that is reported to make sure that the
service is now updated to the latest version. If the
service did not restart automatically, you can start it by
selecting the menu item "Start Service".
IMPORTANT NOTE: If you are using the administrative
console on any other machines or if any other administrators are
also using the console on their machine, you will need the run
the installation you downloaded on those other machines.
This must be done in order to update their installation of the
administrative console.
