Moving the MADSolutions DL Manager installation from one server to another.

D.L. Manager 4.0 with the MADSolutions Client Manager

Conditions / Symptoms

When a server goes down and needs to be rebuilt or a server is being decommissioned, the D.L. Manager files must be moved to another server.

Issue / Cause

D.L. Manager 4.0 has files stored on the Exchange server where it keeps all configurations for distribution lists.  In addition to the configuration files for distribution lists, the MADSolutions service runs on the same server to perform the automatic updating of distribution lists.

When the D.L. Manager files are no longer available, and the D.L. Manager Service is no longer running, D.L. Manager fails to function.

Work Around / Fix

To move D.L. Manager from one server to another, do the following:
- Uninstall the "MADSolutions Service" from your site (This will not delete your existing configurations)
- Locate the file folder \\<old server>\Add-Ins\MADSolutions
- Create the file folder "\\<new server>\Add-Ins\".
- Copy the "MADSolutions" file folder to the new server.
- Open Client Manager and connect to the new server.
- Install the "MADSolutions Service" on your site.  (You will be prompted to install the service on a new server)
