Adding or modifying
language insertion text
for E-mail Management Server
2006
Article Topic:
When attachments are
moved or deleted, ES2006 inserts standard message text. The
insertion text can be changed if desired.
Applies To:
E-mail Management Server 2006 - All
Editions
Conditions / Symptoms
When E-mail Management
Server removes attachments and inserts message text, insertion text
is placed in the message.
Issue / Cause
This is by
design. To change the insertion text, follow the
instructions listed below.
Work Around / Fix
The text placed in e-mail messages can
be customized through the resource files that are included with
the software.
To find the insertion text, do the following:
- Go to the location where you installed the software. By
default this is "C:\Program Files\".
- Go into the "MADSolutions" file folder.
- Go into the "E-mail Management Server" file folder.
- Go into the "Resources" file folder.
- Select the folder of the language file you want to change.
Language IDs (http://www.microsoft.com/globaldev/nlsweb/default.mspx)
(For example: the "0000 Default" file folder is the
default language folder)
Note: If the folder does not exist
for the language you are looking for, you can create the folder
using the following format:
Last 4 characters of the entry of the "LCID
Culture Identifier" column and the name of the language based on
the "Language" column of the above link.
Example 1: French (France)
"LCID Culture Identifier" is: 0x040C; the last 4 characters are:
040C
The Language Column value is: French
The folder would be called: 040C French
Once you create this folder copy the contents
of the '0000 default' folder and change ONLY the contents of the
files. DO NOT change the file names themselves.
Example 2: French (Canada)
"LCID Culture Identifier" is: 0x0C0C; the last 4 characters are:
0C0C
The Language Column value is: French
The folder would be called: 0C0C French
Once you create this folder copy the contents
of the '0000 default' folder and change ONLY the contents of the
files. DO NOT change the file names themselves.
Within the folder you will see text files with
the following names:
-
Attachment Information
Deleted.txt
- This text is used whenever an attachment is deleted from
an e-mail message.
-
Attachment Information Moved.txt
- This text is used whenever an attachment is moved from an
e-mail message.
-
Attachment Information Header.txt
- This text is placed at the start of the MADSolutions
attachment information in e-mail messages.
-
Attachment Deleted Message.txt
- This text is used when you use the action to delete
attachments and select to delete them by moving them to the
Deleted Items folder. This text is placed in e-mails in
Deleted Items with each attachment.
-
Linked Attachments.txt
- This file is added to messages when the option to keep the
attachment icon is selected. The file is then added to
the message after the attachments are removed. The
contents of this message can be changed.
Items that are included in <% %>
brackets are special words the software uses to replace with
information about the attachment or message. You may remove
these if you do not want them included however you must not
modify what appears between <% and %> for ones that are left in.
After modifying these files you must restart the console for the
changes to take effect.
IMPORTANT:
You will also need to make these modifications
a set of text files that resides with any E-mail Management
Server services. They can be found in the share you created on
your Exchange Server under the "Resources" file folder.
Note: The reason these files are in more
than one place is the ones on your local machine are used if you
do processing through the console and the ones on the server are
used by our services if they do any automatic processing of
e-mail.
ALSO:
In the registered/purchased version of the
software you can also turn off the MADSolutions E-mail
Management Server name in e-mail messages through the Global
Settings options available by right-clicking on an Exchange
Server when using the MMC console.
