Savings Example...
E-mail Management Server 2006 can easily reduce the overall average
size of a message in a mailbox, thus significantly reducing the
mailbox size and as a result, the Exchange database. Below is an example
of the savings of one of our E-mail Management Server customers...(mailbox
names have been changed for privacy purposes)

In the above
chart, four typical mailboxes were selected to demonstrate the
possible savings with E-mail Management Server 2006.
In the Mailbox A column, the initial mailbox size was 664 MB
with roughly 19 thousand items. This results in an average
message size of 35 KB. Once E-mail Management is run to
move all attachments older than 30 days from the mailbox to the
Single Share, the mailbox size is reduced to 182 MB with the
same number of items. The resulting average message size
is 9.6 KB. This results in a mailbox size reduction of 481
MB and an average message size reduction of 72%. Following
the other 3 mailboxes, you can see a similar level of savings.
In the final column you will notice that the 4 mailboxes
initially totally roughly 1 Gigabyte. Once E-mail
Management Server was run on the 4 mailboxes, the mailbox
storage total is reduced to about 0.3 Gigabytes. The
bottom right hand corner (circled in red) shows that the overall
message size for all the mailboxes is reduced by roughly 70%.
Using E-mail Management Server,
files can be replaced by hyperlinks in the user's e-mail
and the file placed on a web or file
server. |
