"[MADSolutions Email Manager] has allowed us to move 155 gig plus out of 4 Exchange servers to a much less costly WIN/2000 file service server. It has helped us significantly improve Exchange service and reliability, without removing user capabilities or investing large amounts of capital. In implementing AESS we also were able to find usage problems that were adversely affecting exchange. One major plus is Exchange does not like anything linking into and changing how it works. Other products do this and are dangerous. AESS uses MAPI to modify/move data without messing with the Exchange handling or database.
"We are an IT Solutions and Support company and have provided the [MADSolutions Email Management Server] software to a number of our clients. Exchange is often used as a 'File Store' to allow access to email attachments and such like. These attachments are often forwarded to a number of people in the same organisation, who may in turn modify them and send them back. This results in multiple occurrences of the same file being stored in the Exchange database. Using Exchange in this way is very common, and instructing users to do otherwise is quiet often wasted energy. We have tried in the past archiving 'old' email into PST files, but the process is cumbersome, results in PST files being stored in different places, lost email etc. The process can also be interrupted by the user, and often is. We looked for solutions to archive emails from the server (back end) rather than on the clients and we found MAD Solutions Email Management Server. We tested the software and found that it could do so much more than archiving alone. The software allows you to implement 'Outlook Style' rules to emails and archive them to centralised PST's, strip files attachments and replace with hyperlinks, and so much more. We were able to reduce a 68gb Exchange database to just 12gb by stripping attachments over 100k. The process is automated and the consolidated 'File Attachment' share was just 38gb saving a total of 18gb on the server! The client now has 60gb free space on the Exchange Server and not 4gb (assuming a 72gb database size limit). What's more is that the time taken to complete the nightly backup process has reduced significantly. We would recommend MADSolutions Email Management Server to anyone who is wishing to archive email, and get the most from their Exchange Server."
